trip update
Hello Friends and Family,
Well we have made our way into Slovenia and are exploring the caves and culture of this beautiful country. The caves here are very famous and today we found out why. The biggest one in this area is 20 kilometers long and has huge caverns through out. The stalagmites are up to 530 thousand years old and range in every size and shape you can imagine. Tomorrow we are hoping to go on a private tour with a guide where we get to go boating and climbing in another cave. The people here are so friendly. Tonight we had dinner where the locals hang out and then danced with them for several hours. It was so much fun. During one song we joined a traditional dance and part way through it we realized they were singing John Denver’s, Country Roads. They also did a version of LaBamba. Everyone dances here, no matter your age! I have also been amazed with everyones mastery of English. They along with the rest of Europe put the United States to shame. Most of the locals here speak three or four languages.
After we went to the caves today we also went bowling and ice skating. Todd
was really cute on his skates, and I couldn’t get over how smooth the ice was. It wasn’t like our childhood skating on the bumpy lakes. We are going to head into Ljubljana tomorrow after the caves. We will be thier for Christmas. It is Slovenia’s biggest city and it is suppose to be beautiful. Our trip has been filled with beauty and a great deal of hospitality.
Much Love,
Mary Beth and Todd
